Sergeant First Class Crystal Lee, a native of Orem, Utah, discovered her love of music at age 12 when she began to play flute in 7th grade band. She attended Brigham Young University and had the honor to solo with both the BYU Wind Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestra. While at BYU, she was also a soloist with the Utah Symphony and selected to be a Yamaha Young Performing Artist. She earned her BM and continued her studies at the University of North Texas with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy. Sergeant First Class Lee won a position with The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps in 2001.

During her years of military service, she has served as a Music Arranger, Team Leader, Master Resilience Trainer, Baroque Flutist, Director of Educational Outreach Programs, Section Leader, and Operations NCO. Her most notable performances with the Corps include several appearances at National Flute Association Conventions, the Invictus Games, the Norwegian Military Tattoo, the Basel Tattoo, numerous White House and Pentagon Arrival Ceremonies, three Presidential Inaugural Parades and participation in the State Funeral for former President George H. W. Bush. Sergeant First Class Lee plays piccolo with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic.
